I’ve neglected this blog for way too long. Mostly because of school and work. It’s been a long semester but I made it through with a 3.9. I’m done with the Office Technology program and will be done with the Phlebotomy one after I do my clinicals in July. I’ve also been working out again and getting healthy. I went to the doctor on Friday and my numbers have improved and I’ve lost 3 pounds since my last check up. The only place I seem to not be making a lot of progress in with weight loss.
Part of my workout is running and I joined the Milwaukee chapter of Black Girls RUN! It’s a great group of women that are very encouraging and helpful. I highly recommend it to any black woman that wants to getting into running and wants to do it with a group. Right now we’re doing a Biggest Loser type challenge. We all got weighed in and did the handheld fat analyzer with one of the ladies that is a nutritionist. She is very friendly and asked what my weight loss goals are and we talked about that. She even friended me on Facebook afterwards to keep in touch and encourage me.
So last week she invited me to her 21 Day Fix group. I had seen her post about it on her page but didn’t ask any questions because I felt that with all that I had going on I wouldn’t be able to commit to it. So of course I googled it and read reviews and people’s experiences with it. Most of the people are BeachBody coaches and are looking for new clients. Don’t worry I’m not one of those people. The thing about the program that interests me the most is the portion control. I have a hard time with food and preparing meals; not that I can’t cook. It’s just that sometimes I don’t have an appetite and will skip meals or I’ll overeat unhealthy food. I think that is the main reason why I don’t lose as much weight as I can. So I’ve decided to give 21 Day Fix a try and see if that will jump start my weight loss and help me do better when it comes to eating. I’ve also decided that I will start documenting my journey with pictures and blogs so that people don’t have to question whether or not the program works since most reviews are done by coaches trying to sell the program.
What is 21 Day Fix? It’s portion control and a 30 minute workout. There are 6 different workouts on 2 DVDs. The workouts are: Total Body Cardio Fix, Upper Fix, Lower Fix, Pilates Fix, Cardio Fix and Yoga Fix. There are also 7 color coded containers and a Shakeology shaker cup for the portion control part of the program. You also get to choose a 30 day supply of Shakeology which is a bulk bag or 24 individual packets. I went with the 30 day supply because I like to get my moneys worth. Shakeology comes in 5 different flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, greenberry and chocolate vegan. I went with greenberry since I’ve been juicing and this flavor is suppose to be similar to a green juice/smoothie. When I get the package I will take pictures and post them.
2014 is the year I get serious about my health and losing the weight so that I can get off all the medications that I’m on.
